Around 1979 I started making phone calls to my favorite artists from my bedroom at my parent's home. I spoke with Keith Haring, Ida Applebroog, Nell Blaine, Alice Neel, Agnes Martin and finally Betty Parsons. Miss Neel and Betty Parsons invited me up to New York City to meet them and I accepted their invitations! Which I was glad I did. I think Miss Neel thought I was much older that I was, as she had all her paintings propped on a sofa and a very long hallway, I think she thought I could afford her work, but all I could do that day was purchase a recent catalog, autograhed, of her Georgia Museum Exhibition. Miss Parsons told me I was an hour early but to come in anyway. I was like a child in a candy store, seeing many great paintings by Jackson Pollock, Cleve Gray, and a black on black Anne Ryan Collage. These were two visits that will always remain in my memory. I am a direct descendant of Child Prodigy Violinist Jascha Heifetz, although I do not play the violin I do believe I inherited some artistic abilty from him.
