Rev. Mark McCalla, 48, of Huntington, WV, a caring husband, father, son, brother, minister, and friend, died on June 19, 2008. Born to his proud parents on April 8, 1960, in Columbus, OH, Mark spent his early years in the area as a member of the Whetstone High School Class of 78, and a graduate of The Ohio State University. He eventually continued his education by attending the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and met Pamela, his wife. Mark was ordained as a minister of the Presbyterian Church in July of 1994. MarkÂ’s kindred spirit and gifts of humor and compassion graced congregations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Until his death he was the pastor of Highlawn Presbyterian Church in Huntington, WV. He was a natural adventurist and outdoors enthusiast who embraced nature for its beauty and the platforms it provided for him to exercise his hobbies. He was an advanced cyclist, competing at the professional level for a number of years in the 80s, and also enjoyed camping, hiking, kayaking and rafting. He had a contagious passion for sharing the humor of life with those around him, and was a friend to people and animals alike.
