What is Jelan Kendrick known for?

Jelan Kendrick, born on October 9, 1991, in Marietta, Georgia, is a decorated American basketball player who began his promising career at Joseph Wheeler High School. Standing at a stature of 6 feet 6 inches and weighing 210 lbs, Kendrick quickly made a name for himself on the courts.

During his high school career, Kendrick was named to the esteemed 2010 McDonald's All-American Boys Game and also played in the 2010 Jordan Brand Classic. His talent didn't go unnoticed, with ESPN.com ranking him as the nation's second-best small forward and the 13th-best overall player. He was a five-star recruit by Rivals.com, which also ranked him as the eighth-best player in the country.

Post-high school, Kendrick went on to showcase his skills at several colleges, including Ole Miss, Indian Hills CC, and finally, UNLV. During his final season with UNLV in 2014-2015, Kendrick averaged 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.

Despite being undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft, Kendrick didn't let that halt his career as he moved on to a professional career starting in 2017. Over the years, he played for various teams, including the Nevada Desert Dogs, London Lightning, Fraser Valley Bandits, Pioneros de Los Mochis, and Clube Ferroviário de Maputo. As of 2023, Kendrick plays as a shooting guard for the Yamaguchi Pats Five in the B.League.

Throughout his basketball journey, Kendrick's prowess on the court has earned him several honors such as being a third-team Parade All-American in 2010 and a McDonald’s All-American in the same year.
