About Judi was born August 23, 1944 to parents Forest Jones, a research chemist, and Opal Jones, a teacher. Judi spent the first six years of her life on a ranch in Bailey, Colorado before moving to Wheat Ridge near Denver for schooling, and later university and masters degrees at the University of Northern Colorado. Judi passed away at Valley Medical Center in Renton Washington following a prolonged illness on November 4, 2022.

Judi taught for many years in the Jefferson County Colorado school district and eventually taught all grades from first grade through university and adult classes.

Judi was an accomplished artist, with showings at invitationals.

During the Vietnam War, the doctor draft soon found husband Guy and Judi both living for three years at U.S Air Force security and intelligence bases in northern Japan from which they traveled widely throughout Southeast Asia.

The focus of Judi's life quickly became her children: daughters, Morgana and Leslie, and step son, Rob. To these Judi devoted her formidable energies, schooling, rearing, and volunteer teaching.

Besides her artwork, Judi and Guy loved traveling and eventually visited 50 countries. Judi was an avid cyclist as well. They spent summers on their sailboat. Judi had been a member of Alpha Phi Sorority.

Judi was a beloved wife, a marvelous mother to her children, and a true soulmate to her husband, Guy. Judi was kind, compassionate, and generous. She gave much and asked little in return.

Judi is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Guy Vaughn Buell, MD, daughters Morgana Elaine Buell and Leslie Aileen Buell, stepson Guy Robert Buell, and sister Enid Arleen Keyes.

A small ceremony will be held at Edline-Yahn Funeral Home in Covington on Sunday November 13 at one p.m.

In place of flowers, Judi would have suggested donations to the Cornell Ornithology Lab.
