| About Me | During my years of architectural practice, I was an Associate and Designer in two firms in Kentucky; and Architectural Department Head; Director of Architecture; Senior Vice President; and Executive Vice President of various firms in Florida with 14 to 1400 employees. After retiring in 1988 from an active architectural practice where I was the Managing Principal of the largest architectural practice on the West Coast of Florida, I provided business consulting services for a couple of years in ownership transitions, and mergers and acquisitions to over one hundred professional design practices throughout the eastern US as a part-time Business Consultant. Additionally, I authored numerous publications and articles on the "Business of the Practice" and lectured extensively, conducting business seminars for the design professional. I was a Chapter President of the American Institute of Architects and served on several of their National Committees; was a Charter Chapter Member of the Construction Specifications Institute; maintained registration as an Architect in fourteen states plus D.C. and the National Council of Registration Boards; and was a member of the Professional Services Management Association, where I was additionally designated as a Certified Professional Services Manager. My leisure time, outside of my family, was devoted both to golf, where at one time I maintained a six handicap as a weekend golfer; and to cruising, and racing sailing keel boats where I won many local regattas, and in one class, captured a fourth place in their 1981 National Championship. After retireing , I collected and restored Porsches, primarily Speedsters including three '55-'57 356's and a '94 911. Currently, I am Porscheless and hapily driving a C6 Corvette. At age 70, I began to take flying lessons and undertook the construction of two 3/4 scale airplanes: in Summers, an N2S, Stearman trainer in Illinois; and in Winters, a 3/4 scale P51D Warbird in Arizona. Also. in 2009, I acquierd a completed QC Challenger II on floats to ...(read more) |
