About Me	My wife Debra, and I live in a cute row house on Capitol Hill in D.C. Debra is Senior Program Evaluator for the National Association of City and County Health Organizations. I was an Asst. Professor of Sociology at Columbia University from 1992-1999 and Research Director for American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS from 1999-2008. Those jobs plus consulting work for the State Dept. took me to Russia 25 times between 1987 and 2006. My research interests were Russian society and the rise of Islam in Russia. It was a fascinating time to be traveling to Russia. Since 2008 I've been a federal employee working in the field of education. I worked on lots of higher education programs funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education from 2008-2014. Since 2014 I've been at the Dept. of Defense evaluating programs for the K-12 schools which Defense runs for students of active duty military and some civilian personnel in Europe, the Pacific, and the southern U.S. Working with members of the armed services for 4.5 years has been very interesting and rewarding, and I continue to learn a lot. I'm blessed to be working with some extremely nice people. Debra and I have started to think about retirement some day.
