Brian lived across the street from me, and we were best friends from about age 5 onward. Like Scott above for Emerson, I walked with him to Carson and Westwood nearly every day. Starting with 6th grade band at Emerson, we formed an inseparable (and probably insufferable) trio with Sandy Ikeda - sometimes even musically. Why we didn't do the garage rock band thing I don't know - it would have been way more popular than our clarinet, alto clarinet, and bassoon trio. I guess we were just band nerds at heart. Some of my best memories with Brian were summer music camp at NAU, just hanging out and riding bikes around our neighborhood, and track season in the spring at Carson and Westwood. Brian struggled later in life, and I could have been a much better friend over the years. Take care of your friends while you have them! But he found Jesus (or better - Jesus found him) later in life, and we shared that faith whenever I saw him or called him. I believe he's not struggling anymore - he's with his Lord and friend Jesus now.

Brian and i were friends from the third grade at Emerson. He lived just up the street from me and we walked to school together for years. When we started jr high at carson, i chose a different path, and his height and basketball ability kept him and the incredible team of athletes at Carson and Westwood at the top. I didn't pay much attention to sports, being a freak and all, but i knew them all personally as we all came from Emerson, (except for maybe Todd), and i was proud of them.
At the last reunion, Brian and I hung out together and after closing, we went out to the parking lot and talked until 2AM, when a police officer stopped and asked us to leave. Of course i had to argue with him just to keep up with my image. Cop got mad cause Brian was laughing so much. I will miss him.
