| About Me | I had my own sewing business starting 1981. Highlights- the Queen of England liked my repurposed prom dress for a High Tea entertainer (singer) at a Super model’s wedding event. I recreated the Elvis costume- white jumpsuit with large bell bottom legs & the jeweled eagle design for an Elvis impersonator who was in a contest. He won because he looked like Elvis & sang himself like Elvis. He won & worked at Hard Rock, & he was on a billboard for while in that jumpsuit. He still owns it! I made a grandmother of the groom dress for a lady with scoliosis. It was the first dress made just for her crooked body that she outshined the bride who wasn’t jealous at all! She looked amazing! I still alter special occasion outfits, like a wedding dress for this April! I was an Adjunct Professor at the PBCC Summer Youth College where I developed a Fossil Exploration class and a Line & Design (dress for success) class for up to 30 kids for several years. I Homeschooled my kids to graduation and continued teaching hands-on Science at 2 homeschool organizations, developed an Elementary Creation Science Program for homeschoolers, used that program for 2 Private Schools’ After School Program, the museum’s Science Summer Camp, and for a Saturday Science Club for total of 35 years! I got to teach 4 of my grandkids in several of these places over the years! So many various places I taught at are beyond numbering! VBS’s galore, went to private schools Public Speaking about fossils that are at the museum & various science things! My teaching was STEAM Science on steroids with a Biblical basis! I like to have the kids experience science, not just read about it! We had FUN! I taught dissection classes for several Private schools, Junior High to High School for many years. I was one of the guides where we brought several Private Schools’ students down the Peace River fossil hunting as a field trip each year &/or taught the classes to prepare them for canoeing, safety, & fossil identification. I developed a Survival Course for Elementary kids at their level. As a Leader of a 4-H club for 9 years, I also trained 4-H’ers in my county during and after being a leader. I helped prepare them to compete in the Fashion Revue at the County & State levels. In 4-H I honed my woodworking skills that I learned in Westwood High School wood shop to build the County Fair booth display sharing what my 4-H ers have learned using an interactive-type display. People were welcomed to come into our booth to learn something they might not have known each year! Other clubs followed the same style in the Broward County Fair. Was a fossil guide on the Peace River for about 28 years, became a carpenter to design & build out displays for two museum centers for the mammoth fossils CSI had excavated in 1996. We expanded with real dinosaur fossils so kids can touch or hold real dinosaur fossils!! I have done museum tours with workshops about our fossils & a cool project to take home! Fun! Hobbies: Crafting, kayaking & canoeing with my husband on Florida rivers & springs, going to all kinds of museums, gem hunting, fossil hunting, motorcycle riding behind hubby, wood working and refinishing (I’m a carpenter), sewing Christmas stockings for ALL of my extended family &...(read more) |
