About Me	Cat originally from LA who grew up in KC in a family of musicians. In the late 70's introduced to the funky jazz sounds of James Brown, Blue Note..Chess. We was into everything. Rock, Blues, Gospel, you name it. Then came the 80's and the origins of the Hip-Hop/Beat Culture; breakin poppin lockin, boomboxin. Groups like Art of Noise, Newcleus, Kraftwerk were the pioneers of the beat generation. KoolHerc GrandWizard Theodore and Grandmaster Flash shocked the world with the birth of Hip-Hop. The fascination was born. In the 80's started hearing groups like SugerHill, Acid Jazz, London Beat scene, Punk, electronic. That was the start of a relentless search for the Perfect Sound. I became friends with the owners of the first truly independent record store in KC. Enormous Horsepower. I was the first store clerk of KC's first true underground/used vinyl hard to find record store Alley Cat Records. Countless days and hours were spent digging through the crates of funk, jazz, reggae, soul , soundtracks, rock whatever. Also at this time the new hip thing became House Music and Techno. Everybody knew about Hip-Hop, so House and Techno was the hidden gem that only the "scene" knew about. Me and my crew knew different. The 'REAL SH!T" was the On-U Sounds, Acid Jazz, London Beathead sounds along with the true underground "knowledge" hip-hop. Since then we have seen; Deep House, Trip_hop, Electronica, Drum-n-Bass, Industrial, Nujazz, Latinjazz, Afrojazz, jazzyjazz, Industrial just to name a few. Global Excursions was created for the radio show I ran for 90.1 KKFI in the early/mid nineties. I Dj'd for clubs and galleries throughout KC. Specializing in futurejazzdubsoulfulbeats.
