About	January 16, 2002 (Post Standard) 35-year-old man died Tuesday night after a car struck him while he was crossing Teall Avenue in Lyncourt. Todd G. McDowell of 1405 Grand Ave., Syracuse, was walking in the middle of the street near Shop City about 6:30 p.m., Sheriff Kevin Walsh said. He was trying to cross, Sgt. John D'Eredita said. To avoid northbound traffic, he stepped backward into the southbound lane and into the path of a blue 1996 Mazda, D'Eredita said. The driver, Justin R. Belge, 24, of Syracuse, tried to stop but skidded.
