Chuckie was one of the kindest men I have ever known. He was the best brother I could have ever asked for. I’m so glad our parents adopted us together. It was always important to them to keep siblings together.
Miss you, Bro…. ❤️

NORWAY, Maine -- Charles Vinson Reid, Sr., 70, of West Paris, ME, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Stephens Memorial Hospital after a short but severe illness.
Charles was born in Boston, MA, on March 12, 1945, and raised the son of Vinson C. Reid and Mildred (Gates) Reid, by adoption in 1954. He attended schools in Chelmsford, MA, and graduated from Westford Academy in Westford, MA.
He worked through his school years on his dad's poultry and fruit farm in Westford; but always dreamed of traveling around the world. So about 1964, he joined the Merchant Marines for two years and fulfilled that dream. Charles returned to his hometown area in 1968 where he was a Pressman for New England Phonebook, and later worked for North American Directory Company.
In 1976, Charles met and married the love of his life, Claire Poitras of Dracut, MA. He then lived in Dracut until the family moved to West Paris, ME, 15 years ago.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Claire (Poitras) Reid (2010); his parents, Vinson (1990) and Mildred (1998); and his birth mother, with whom he was reunited after 40 years, Emma (Reuter) Cavanaugh (1996).
He is survived by his sister, Janice (Reid) Gillispie and husband, Charles, of Ava, MO; a daughter, Amelia (Reid) Moore of West Paris, ME; a son, Charles Vinson Reid, Jr., of South Paris, ME; and a grandson, Brian Moore, of West Paris, ME, as well as many cousins across the country.
His wishes were to be cremated with no service; however, there will be private family service in the future. Arrangements are in the care of Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris, Maine. Condolences can be expressed to the family by visiting www.chandlerfunerals.com
