What is Ryan Pepiot known for?

Ryan Pepiot, born on August 21, 1997 in Indianapolis, Indiana, is an accomplished professional baseball player, currently serving as a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He boasts an impressive win-loss record of 5-1 and an earned run average of 2.76, with 80 strikeouts as of the 2023 season. Ryan started his sports journey at Westfield High School in Westfield, Indiana, where he excelled not just in baseball, but also in basketball and football. His innate talent wasn't unnoticed, and he was even named Class 5-A All-State at quarterback as a senior.

Following his high school career, Pepiot went on to play college baseball for the Butler Bulldogs at Butler University for three seasons. His junior year was particularly noteworthy, producing a 4-4 record with a 3.92 ERA in 14 starts, and shattering the school record with 126 strikeouts over 78 innings. His efforts culminated in him finishing the season as Butler's career leader in strikeouts with 306.

Pepiot's professional career began when the Los Angeles Dodgers selected him in the third round of the 2019 MLB draft, marking him as the highest-drafted Butler player in the program's history. He made his MLB debut on May 11, 2022, and soon after, on July 5, 2022, he picked up his first major league win against the Colorado Rockies. Despite a strained oblique in his final spring training start in 2023, Pepiot managed to rejoin the Dodgers later that same year. Since then, he's held a 2-1 record and a 2.14 ERA, reflecting his consistent contribution to the team.
