What is Chris Smith known for?

Born in Salisbury, North Carolina, Chris Smith (February 11, 1992 – April 17, 2023) was a respected American professional football player. He stood out during his years at West Rowan High School in Mount Ulla, North Carolina, where he made an impressive 98 tackles and 16.5 sacks in his senior year.

Smith then proceeded to the University of Arkansas, where he played college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2010 to 2013. Over his college career, he recorded numerous accolades, including an All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) second-team selection in 2013.

Following his college career, he was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 5th round of the 2014 NFL Draft, beginning his professional career. Over eight seasons, Chris Smith was a formidable defensive end, playing for teams such as the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, and the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL.

In his notable NFL career, he amassed significant stats including 80 total tackles, 11 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. Unfortunately, we lost this remarkable sportsman to an untimely death on April 17, 2023.
