Lou Ann Smith, 59, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007, at the Washington County Hospital. Lou Ann was born July 21, 1947, in Joplin, Mo., the daughter of Maj. Gen. Homer Duggins Smith, Jr., of San Antonio, and Anna Lurline Olsen Smith Yardley of Waco. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in music at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. She was employed as the organist and choir director at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. Previously she was organist and choir director at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Waco. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco. She served as dean of the American Guild of Organists in Waco and was a member of the Cumberland Valley American Guild of Organists, Hagerstown and Washington, D.C. Calligraphers Guild. She married Ken A. Stoops May 20, 2006.
