Born Nov. 27, 1947, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Gustav E. and Zella Evans Cwalina. She lived most of her life in Lafayette and previously resided in Minneapolis and New York City. She was a 1965 West Lafayette High School graduate, attended Purdue University, and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She also graduated from the School of Culinary Arts in New York City. She worked as a sous chef at various restaurants in the Lafayette area. She enjoyed writing, cooking and canning, growing and selling flowers, and caring for her dog.
