JK (Janet) Marten
Class of 1983
ADAMSTSL2 ground-breaking research acknowledgement which developed a
DNA swab test which has now been developed for the human sector
of genetic testing. It is now used for DNA counseling for those who
have a history a dwarfism in their genes. JK (Janet) Marten was responsible
for initiating this study through Dr. Mark Neff at UC Davis, collecting
samples required for the study and distribution of DNA swabs to make
the eventual test affordable to the general public. The testing led to
the mapping of the canine genome which has led to other developments
In human DNA research and has now been applied to countless other
forms of DNA research around the World.
