| About Me | More than you want to hear, but here are the basics-- After college in Dubuque ("Gateway to the Middle Ages"), I spent a year living, studying, and eating way too much chocolate in Hamburg, Germany, thanks to a Fulbright fellowship. I went to grad school in philosophy at Penn State. While there, I got a jury duty summons in the mail from the Johnson County Courthouse and decided that it was time to give up my Iowa residency and register to vote in Pennsylvania. After getting my Ph.D., I moved to Cincinnati, where I've been teaching at Xavier University (the one with the basketball team) ever since. I did a lot of traveling in the '90's: Turkey, Morocco, Britain and Ireland, Greece (twice), and especially Egypt, which I've visited four times and have had many exciting adventures. My most recent adventure is that in March 2007, I got married for the first time! My husband and I have a commuter marriage--he works in Carbondale, IL, and I'm still in Cincinnati--so my traveling these days is a lot less exotic than it used to be.
