About | Geraldine Mullins passed away April 6, 2011 from pneumo- nia caused by an explosion and house re which completely destroyed the home near Corinth, Mississippi. After extensive hospital stays in Mississippi, she was transported to Lewis- ton, Idaho to be close to most of her children. At the time of her death, she was being cared for in the home of her oldest daughter, Susan Babb, who was at her side reading scriptures to her in her last moments of life. Geraldine was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, August 16, 1943 to Virgil Clark and Florance Emma Jorgensen Baldwin. She is survived by her ve children. Daughters, Susan Ann Babb, Penny Marie Jameyson, and Carrie Florance Peterson. Her sons, Paul Clark Peterson, and Duane Ronald Peterson, and her brother Virgil Clark Baldwin, Jr. 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest son Lee Mitchell Peterson, Jr. Geraldine attended West High School in Salt Lake City until her marriage to Lee Mitchell Peterson. After a few years they moved to California where they lived in communities in the San Francisco Bay area and raised their children. While there she worked as a beautician for many years. Geraldine and Lee later divorced. She moved to Oregon and lived with her son, Lee Jr. for a while. There she met Luna Floyd Alexander Mullins. They soon married and moved to the Corinth, Miss. Area, where Floyd was born and raised. She quickly became a southern lady, and adapted to the southern country way of life. Floyd died in 2000. After Floyd’s passing she became acquainted with Jerry Odel Wilbanks. They became best of friends and lived together for the next 11 years of her life in the Corinth, Miss. area. Sadly on December 7, 2010 both Geraldine and Jerry, along with a friend Bobby Willingham and a granddaughter Christine McCarron were seriously injured in a tragic explosion and re that de- stroyed their home and that later took Geraldine’s life. Also in the re she lost her treasured dog “Coco” of 17 years. She loved spending time with family, friends and loved ones. She had a way of making people feel special and loved. When she met new people they quickly became her friend. She was an active member of the Kossuth Worship Center for 10 years in Kossuth, Mississippi. She was active in the women’s group of the church where she helped raise funds for the church and participate in the church Bizarres. Along with her children she enjoyed going to the beach, water skiing, camping, hunting and shing. Family was very important to her. She loved her children very much and had a special relationship with each one. A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Published in Salt Lake Tribune on Apr. 13, 2011 |
