| About Me | May 31, 2018: Hey, all! I would have been with WF's class of '86 but I left early in Fall of '82. I guess I was gone too soon to make it into the '82/'83 yearbook at all. :( You were my classmates though! It's spooky how well I remember your names and faces after all this time! If you remember me at all, you probably thought of me as the 'new kid', an outsider, weirdo, bookworm, smart-mouth, the Non-Christian you weren't allowed to play with. LOL! Some clever people called me 'shaggy'... I actually lived in WF THREE TIMES, starting with 2nd-3rd grade First, we lived at 11692 Sheehan Rd on the mountain off Hwy 170. It was the 5 acres where the road suddenly splits 90 degrees right. I think the Bayleys built the house? The Paiges lived across from us to the left. Where is Rick Paige these days? He's not in the yearbooks! :( The Mugleys lived further down the road and I stayed with them when my mom worked nights. In '76 we moved into town to 414 McNight, just across the street from the old middle school pkg lot. But it was called Woolsey Rd then. My bedroom was the whole attic, which is gone now.. It looks like the roof has been completely rebuilt. The Hannah's lived right in back of us on Craig St.. Larry wasn't allowed to talk to me, LOL. I moved to Fort Smith for 4th-6th grade, but came back to WF for 7th grade. We lived in the same house again. It was so weird, like I'd jumped forward in time and lost 3 years of my life and you had all grown up! That year our field trip was to, of all places, Fort Smith! My mother, Charlotte Johnson was a substitute teacher. My dear mother sent me to live with my dad for a while, but I came back again to finish 8th grade. I started 9th grade, but a week or two in, she sent me to military school in MO using the last of my inherited college money. She had already used my money to buy the houses, so that left me with nothing after graduation. I tried to run away, but she had friends bring me in and take me to MO by force. Her support checks to the school were bouncing, so I sort of got kicked out. I went to Wisconsin and lived with my baptist aunt, uncle and cousins. That was so much better. Despite my ridiculous Arkansas twang, people didn't deride or treat me like an outsider. Girls thought it was cute! Cities are full of diverse people who get along just fine.. My new school was an amazing place where students co-taught classes and we could smoke in the cafeteria! If you wanted to smoke pot, you just went outside (I do not smoke). Eventually, I got a computer degree and worked for several night clubs in Milwaukee. I did some drifting and sight-seeing for a while. Now, I live in Austin TX and work for the power utility in the IT dept. I volunteer as a counselor for the teen center and runaway shelter. It would be great hearing from any of you. Just reverse these letters to reach me: oohay ta nednilrednav_dahs. Tell me what you've been up to and maybe a story to jog my memory. Also, hey have you noticed you have a friggin' freeway cutti...(read more) |
