| About Me | Marcos A. Telles is an Associate Director at Harlingen High School in Harlingen, Texas where he serves as conductor of the Concert Band, Jazz 3, leads the saxophone studio, and is an assistant director for the award winning Harlingen High School Marching Band. Prior to his appointment at Harlingen High School he served as Associate Director of Bands at Tom C. Clark High School in San Antonio, Texas. While at Clark, Mr. Telles served as co-director of the Cougar Marching Band, directed the Symphonic Winds, Concert Band, taught advanced music theory, and was the administrative sponsor of the TECA State Champion Clark “Quintessence” Colorguard. Many of Mr. Telles’ students have received top honors at the Region, Area, and All-State level. Several of them are currently enrolled at major universities throughout the country including; the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A & M College Station, University of Kansas, UTSA, Texas State University, Texas Tech University, University of North Texas, Emerson College and Yale University. Mr. Telles’ bands have received "First Division" awards and "Best in Class" awards at festivals in the Rio Grande Valley, Dallas, TX and Washington D. C., as well as received consistent UIL “Sweepstakes” awards. Telles' Jazz Ensemble has received "First Division" and "Best in Class" awards at the RGV Jazz Festival and the TAMUK Jazz Festival. Mr. Telles has served as an assistant director for marching bands that have received "Grand Champion" awards, UIL first division awards and have performed at the UIL 5A State Marching Contest. Marcos Telles is a 2002 graduate of Texas State University-San Marcos, where he received a Bachelor of Music Education degree. While a student at Texas State, Mr. Telles performed with numerous musical ensembles and led the Bobcat Marching Band as drum major for two years. He studied conducting with John Stansberry, James Hudson and saxophone with Douglas Skinner. Mr. Telles has also had the privilege of conducting the Texas State University Wind Ensemble, Clark High School A-1 Symphonic Band and most recently the Harlingen High School Honors Band at the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival as an Associate Conductor. Mr. Telles has also served as musical conductor of the Harlingen Performing Arts Theatre Company. Marcos Telles is a member of the Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Association, International Association for Jazz Education, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.
