Over 12 consecutive years of service to the President of the United States while serving in a challenging positions of successive responsibility during the period of 1 August 1996 through 1 February 2008. Sam Pleasant culminated a distinguished 24 year career by serving as the Director of Transportation Management, White House Transportation Agency in direct support of the President of the United States. While serving at the White House, Sam Pleasant planned and executed over 400 ground transportation missions transporting over 3,000 senior White House staff members and 300 tons of cargo with a 100% mission success rate and over 18,000 accident free miles. In addition, he successfully led over 50 Presidential motorcades supervising and controlling over 300 high-speed motorcade movements during intense Presidential operations. Because of his exceptional duty performance, he was quickly selected to serve as an Air Force One Transportation Coordinator where he was responsible for coordinating all logistical support for the arrival of Air Force One; a distinguished duty limited to only 1% of agency personnel. Furthermore, he traveled in support of over 75 Presidential trips over 120,000 miles worldwide in both CONUS and OCONUS locations and planned and executed the movement and security of over 1,000 tons of Presidential cargo to include classified material from the National Security Counsel with 100% mission success rate. After serving in this distinguished position, he was selected by the command and confirmed by the Administration to serve as the Director of Transportation Management for Air Force One. While serving in this prestigious duty position, Sam Pleasant traveled aboard Air Force One as the Agency Command Representative and coordinated critical logistical support with senior cabinet members and administration officials. He also expertly coordinated the movement and security of over 2,000,000 pounds of cargo during the support of more than 300 OCONUS and CONUS Presidential trips. In addition, Sam Pleasant was highly commended by the United States Secret Service, the Department of State, and the White House staff for his exceptional attention to detail while scheduling and supervising TSA security inspections of luggage, equipment, and other items that were transported on Air Force One. Sam Pleasant has served with great distinction during his tenure with the Agency. Most note worthy was his superior duty performance during the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks and the President’s historical visits to Iraq. During and following the attack, Sam Pleasant independently led, coordinated, and supervised ground transportation movements for Air Force One and State Department aircrafts. Due to his dedication to duty and commitment, he was personal praised by the President and staff and was the first enlisted service member to receive a performance evaluation personally from the President of the United States. Sam Pleasant has consistently proven to be an outstanding Non-Commissioned Officer and leader while serving in some of the most highly visible duty positions in the White House and the United States Army.
