About Event

Finally, The 50th Reunion

Sorry, everyone for the delay but we’ve been unable to confirm a nice venue for the Saturday, July 31, the “Finally The 50th Reunion” sit down event. So, would like to go forward anyway with this weekend in July since it is summer with the nice weather and outside events. and also another reunion in October when we can book a venue. This provides two separate reunions for our class. Need to know how many are interested in either or both of these reunions but especially the October one since we will have to give the facility a number of people attending for catering. We are setting up a web page at https://www.alumniclass.com/west-babylon-high-school-eagles-ny/reunion-search/ for updates on the October and July events. Presently we are planning the following:

July

Friday - 7/30 - Morning there is the Bunny Classic Golf outing out East where they play a full round of golf and have a luncheon with many of the school’s faculty and alumni. At 5pm meet at Cedar Beach for drinks and food with a live band. Free Parking after 5. This party will run till 10pm and the West Babylon Alumnus from all classes will also be there. Then we can continue the fun at Capt. Bill’s in Bay Shore down by the town docks. If you want to meet earlier thought we could go to Fire Island Beach 2 like in the old days and then a short drive over to Cedar Beach or go to the County Park in Islip and have a BBQ like in the previous reunion. Open to other suggestions.

Saturday - 7/30 – Evening meet at Tanner Beach Town Park in Copiague. This is a town beach and we can BBQ or bring food/drinks and they will have live music. Earlier in the day we can meet somewhere we think will be good like Lilly Flanigan’s in Babylon for drinks.

Sunday - 7/31 – Breakfast at Golf in Babylon and can play a short 9-hole Couse if you want for $ 11. They have a nice deck and is a nice setting to relax and catch up.

October (Exact Weekend is still not confirmed)

Friday – 7pm meet at Lilly Flanagan’s for drinks and fun.

Saturday – Morning at the High School for a tour of the old place with all its memories. Afternoon WB Football Homecoming game at the Junior High School field. We can take over the stands and root for the home team our Eagles. Then in the Evening our Gala at the Long Island Yacht Club in Frederick Shores, Babylon on the Bay. Can also meet after depending on timing of LIYC event at a designated place for more fun and catching up. We need to know the exact number of people for the Yacht Club event so we can pay for and set up so please be certain you are going. We anticipate the cost of attending will be approximately in the $ 55 per person range and will include all food, taxes and tips. Please make your reservations and pay on the above Web page to make it easier for all of us. The bar will at your expense and did this in order to keep the cost down.

Sunday – Breakfast at Golf Cub in Babylon and can play a short 9-hole Couse if you want for $ 11. They have a nice deck and is a nice setting to relax and catch up.

Please remember some of the events and times may be fluid due to weather conditions and other causes but we will keep you posted on the web site.

I will not be attending an all class reunion in July, which is nice for some people who live local but not a proper 50th Reunion for our class. I am completely on board with a 50th Reunion on October 23rd at the LI Yacht Club. At $45-50 per person it is completely reasonable, no more than going out to dinner at any nice restaurant which we all have done regularly. And leaves enough time for people to make travel arrangement. A half-assed attempt is bound to fail and attract only a small number of people. Let's do this right and have a great 50th, we deserve it. I have been giving all the help and support I can for several months now, and Marge Intreglia and Pat Boyce are checking into arrangement for October 23rd. We need to move boldly and with confidence, this can be done and should be done. Anyone wanting to help, contact me at michaelsansevero@yahoo.com or text or call me at 954-300-4965. As many of you know, I chaired several of our Reunions, and feel confident in pulling this off. We only need to know what the minimum guranty is for the venue. I know if we start putting names to paper we can come up with at least 30-40 people to start, and hopefully many more with promotion. I have no problem putting my name to a guaranty.

We should have something classier for our 50th. As life plays out, and since it has really been at least 10 years since our last Reunion, the 50th is a special one and the usual beach hangout drinking party seems a bit dated and done already. JMHO

That may be true Mike but trying to keep costs down and we have arranged now a great party at the newly refurbished Long Island Yacht Club in Fredrick Shores (Thanks, Margie Dooley/Intreglia) on the Saturday night from 6-10 PM. Watch the sun set over Great South Bay and the Captree Bridge from the second floor which we have reserved. Have a catered meal and use of the facility and grounds for $ 45/p all in. Drinks on your own tab. Working on getting into the old High School for a tour and breakfast on Sunday. Do you have a better idea, not sure a classier (expensive) event will attract more of us which is what we are trying to achieve. If there is interest by some to do something else we will try to accommodate around the Friday-Sunday events we are scheduling and have to move forward since time is getting close. Besides I am sure groups will be getting together around and outside our planned events too. Feel free to arrange something since you are the reunion committee chairperson and I am only one of a few others that are trying to help make something happen that gives all the alums something that works for them. Like we did a few years ago when we missed our 40th reunion since no one took the time and/or effort to arrange something. I happen to think spending an evening at Ceder Beach with friends and alums with the Ocean (I usually go in) and good music is one of the best memories I have of Long Island. I try to make it every year and so do many other WB Alums from our other classes. Hope to see you that weekend and feel to call me (973/570-5106) or any of the other members on your reunion committee.
Cedar Beach Fri night & Yacht Club Sat night sound great...maybe other events too Sat mid-day & Sunday?...looking forward to it. Thx Margie & George & Mike for your efforts.. Bob Schneider
Everything sounds great, thanks to all for your efforts, can’t wait to see everyone
Well, we have had to postpone everything for the 2020 Reunion but pretty much will just push it back to 2021 hopefully. Lets try to get everyone we have contact with to come no matter what year they graduated. I think it will be something that will lift our spirits after this sad 2020. Hope we all made it through and will see you there. More to follow and want to start planning ASAP so we can accommodate everyone's wishes. Contact me or any of the above people for info or help with your plans. Peace and Lov
Agree with Bob Schneider's post and anyone have ideas. Of course some groups will want to do their own thing in the open time slots and there is still either before and after the committee events for other things. What does anyone think or suggest?
