About Me | I grew up by Harvard, Ann Arbor, and Wellesley. I graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Tufts University. I worked as an artist and taught art. I had a business growing sprouts in the Cincinnati area and have lived in Venice, Florida the past 25 years. I am a therapist and own a school of massage therapy for twenty years. My three children are grown and have families. I am moving to the country and will miss living by our beach. This past year I went on three Holland American cruises and went to countries in Central America, Mexico and Islands. I got to crew on the 12 meter Stars and Stripes off of St. Martins which won the America's Cup, snorkel the second largest coral reef off Belize, visit three pyramids in Mexico, go for a two hour horse back trail ride on a Paso Fino by the rain forest in Puerto Rico and have a great time. My brother calls this pre retirement training. My oldest grand son was in the Para Rescue Training in the Air Force but his knee got ripped up so he got a medical discharge and will start college. My 12 year old grand daughter has horses I gave her. She does rodeo speed events on her Florida Cracker mare and jumps my big Thoroughbred. Her two year old brother was born talking. This is my wonderful daughter's family. (She is a Writer and rides a Harley.) My son built the largest solar power plant in the USA and is about to start building the tenth one. Just let me know if you need some built over a megawatt. Payback is about four years and there are tax breaks and the deductions for depreciation. He has a lovely wife who is an identical twin. Their four year old girl will soon have a baby brother. My other son is a fantastic surfer with an eleven year old son. I am a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. My favorite Charity is ADRA (active in 120 countries). Sometimes they have huge matching grants for their child survival programs (food and re-hydration). One was where one dollar becomes seven. Check out ADRA and take a look at their gift catalog. If the money we spent one year for Christmas was spent or matched on digging wells- world hunger could be eliminated. For about 20 years I spent a lot of weekends in Orlando to help my friend John who dedicated himself to his Orlando Street Ministry. I used to help him make soup and sandwiches and we would feed off the tail gate of his truck behind the Lamar hotel on wrong side of the tracks. One eve when we pulled in they were TOSSING the body of a knife victim- not 20l feet away-into the back of the ambulance van. Several years later a shelter was built where 500 homeless may sleep on a cement floor. The sides of the building came up about 4-5 feet and the rest is open to the roof so there is no heat in the winter and no air conditioning in the summer when it is in the mid 90's and very humid. The first 100 that had a dollar could have a mat to sleep on. After the shelter was built I helped him bring food and other donations to homes that called a help line or from word of mouth. If you are in Orlando you can always find homeless people on South Orange Blossom Trail and near convenient stores and many major intersections. Give up some of your surplus. As you get older it just ties you down and holds you back. Get back to basics and simplify so you can have more free time for fun. God bless you with blessings. Look at the Bible and claim some of the promises which are free for the asking. By His stripes we are healed. It is alway...(read more) |
