About Me	Before initiating my extensive career in State government, I attended College of the Siskiyous in Weed for one semester in 1967. I moved to Los Angeles in the Spring of 1968 and was hired by Sunset House in Culver City. I relocated to Northern California after the Watts riots. In the summer of 1968, I attended Heald's Business College in Sacramento. I learned shorthand and received certificates with A's. My concentration was IBM. I was interviewed for a State job and three weeks later, in August 1968, I began my career with the State of California at the DMV. After transferring from the DMV, I advanced to a Senior Stenographer/Supervisor in the DHS CRO and an AGPA with the CDSS. While working in the CDSS Recovery Bureau, I volunteered to work for FEMA on the Alameda County Loma Prieta Earthquake. I was a case worker for FEMA for six weeks in Oakland. The California Office of Emergency Services presented certificates to a coworker and me for our outstanding work with FEMA. I continued to pursue my undying desire for higher education in the evenings over the years as follows: Gerontology Administration, Master of Science Degree, CSUS, May 2011. Bachelor of Arts Degree (Social Welfare) CSUS 1975. Associate of Arts Degree with Distinction (Sociology), Sacramento City College 1972. ,• During the summer months, each year I worked for Kelly Services where I was assigned as a Reader and Scorer for the County Office of Education CELD program. l also worked for Gateway Residential as a Childcare Counselor (part-time) and at Wells Fargo Bank National Business Banking Center (full time) during the same time frame. I often received recognition for my advanced customer service skills, such as, a WFB casino party (with Mr. Leggett) and a dinner cruise around the San Francisco Bay. I happily attended my 25 year high school reunion in Weed with Mr. Leggett, in 1992. I was delighted to see several classmates that I remembered. Later in 1999 we attended my classmate's 50th birthday celebration in Sacramento. It was great to see familiar faces. Currently, I plan to advocate for active senior citizens.
