One night in high school, Jim and I went cruising in his parents '68 VW bug. He was driving fast when we went around a corner on two wheels and ended up in the wrong lane heading for a big truck. He froze for a second so I grabbed the wheel and turned into our lane, a scary night but the both of us made it through! Ironically, later, when he was in college, he wrote on his calendar "Dead" for the upcoming Saturday night concert of the Grateful Dean. He perished on the drive to the concert in a VW bug. RIP Jim, I miss you.
