Randall was born and grew up in Lansing, Michigan, graduating from Michigan State. When living in Lansing, he was a frequent golfer. He also enjoyed bowling. He worked as a programmer for Farm Bureau Insurance in Lansing. About 1980, he relocated to Florida to work as a programmer in NASA’s Space Shuttle program for several contractors such as Computer Science Corp (CSC) and Lockheed Space Operations Corp (LSOC). He was an active member of the Brevard County Orchid Society, North Brevard Genealogy Society (NBGS), and Space Coast Model Train Club. He has family in Florida, Michigan, and South Carolina.
