| Favorite School Memory | 1) Being active in my church's youth group (Immanuel Baptist Church) - changed my life! 2) The learning experience from Mrs. Canfield's speech class & her guidance in sponsoring Girls League when I was an officer 3) Parts in several school plays; 4) building floats for homecoming; 5) working after school & Saturdays as a "soda jerk" at Rexall Drug Store on Genesee St. - all the flavored Cokes, malts and sundaes I wanted while playing "hostess" to classmates and servicemen - what fun! | About Me | 1) Just after WTHS I worked several years at Abbott Labs assembling intravenous equipment. They filmed my hands and recorded my voice for a video to instruct employees at other plants in making the same product. (So I guess you could say I've been in films, right?) LOL! 2) After attending MBI and CLC, in 1970 I started working with Campus Crusade for Christ, a parachurch organization that shares the gospel of Jesus Christ and disciples students, laymen, and military in understanding and living by the principles of the Bible. I worked several years with high school students in Grand Rapids, MI and then several years at their then headquarters of Arrowhead Springs in San Bernardino, CA. I didn't like raising my own salary/support, but I DID like the opportunity to influence for the good more than a few teenage girls. 3) After CCC I went back into typical secular jobs working at Loma Linda University (CA), Abbott Labs again (IL); 3) Moved to Chicago in 1980: worked at Deloitte & Touche; Harris Associates (an investment firm); Arthur Andersen; National Equity Fund. I took this last year off to chill for awhile, but hope to go back to work by fall '07 and start a new, less-demanding job. Nope -- no husbands, no babies, no grandchildren. Even though I haven't followed the typical family path of a heterosexual American woman, I count myself blessed to be where I am at this moment -- in the prep school of eternal life.
