September 19, 1938 – December 3, 2025

Watertown, WI – Georgene A. McCaig (Hiller), 87, went to be with her heavenly father peacefully on December 3, 2025.

She was born September 19, 1938 to George R. and Alice Hiller (Yahn) an only child. She attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School – Class of 1956. On November 1, 1958 she married Ronald L. McCaig at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. They were married for 63 years and had two children.

Georgene worked at Sears Roebuck in the catalog department for many years. She also worked for the City of Watertown Engineering Department, which she enjoyed so very much, eventually retiring after 24 years of service.

She loved taking care of her grandchildren, Heath and Kayla, as they were growing up. In her free time, Georgene enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. She also enjoyed taking special trips to Arizona to see her son and grandchildren. She truly was an Angel on Earth, Amazing Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, who cared deeply for everyone. She was a gift from God.

Georgene is survived by her daughter, Debra Schluter; grandchildren, Heath Schluter and Kayla Schluter, Kiana McCaig, Cambria Mayfield; daughter-in-law, Melissa McCaig; great-grandchildren, Melanie, Lane and Hudson; special friends, Carol Bussler and Mary Affield. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her son, Steven.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Georgene’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown would be appreciated. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family. Online condolences may be left at www.HafemeisterFH.com. A private service will be held in the Spring.
