Events	Gene K. Kurtz, 65, of Watertown, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Friday, January 2, 2026. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or Rainbow Community Care. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Online condolences may be left at www.HafemeisterFH.com. Gene Kenneth Kurtz was born on February 12, 1960 to Kenneth and Arlene (Groehler) Kurtz, Sr. in Milwaukee. He was a 1978 graduate of Watertown High School. Gene married Nancy King on September 13, 1980 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown. He worked as a Melt and Pour Supervisor at Waukesha Foundry for over 30 years. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the Juneau Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by his wife Nancy Kurtz of Watertown; son, Gary (Brianna) Kurtz of Ixonia; daughter, Kellie C. Kurtz of Chicago; grandchildren: Mya, Mason, and Layla; siblings: Todd (Sheila) Kurtz of Franklin, Jackie Kurtz of Madison, Kenneth (Gina) Kurtz, Jr. of Watertown; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Wally Kurtz and Gary Kurtz.
