Zackery “Zack” Kermit Umland was born on May 7, 1987, in Watertown, the son of Scott and Wendy (Lenius) Umland. He graduated from Watertown High School in 2005.

He married Meghan Mueller on June 7, 2024, in a heartfelt backyard ceremony at his parents’ home in Watertown. They affirmed their vows and celebrated their marriage again with friends and family in a formal ceremony in Jamaica this past June.

Throughout his professional life, Zack was a valued team member at companies including Kayser Automotive, Trek Bicycle, and Fastenal. His career journey led him to Konecranes, where he served as an outsourcing procurement agent until his death.

Zack’s life was full of passions. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting deer, pheasant and turkey. Riding around on his Harley with his wife and in laws. Bowling with his family and friends in local leagues. Frequent trips up to the family cabin in Eagle River, where he would go fishing and enjoy many other activities that the Northwoods had to offer. He loved hosting firepit parties for friends and family. He was the one you could always count on to get the fire started. Those who knew him will always picture him doing the things he loved.

Zack always knew how to brighten up a room with his kindness, goofiness, and the way he could recite many lines from his favorite comedy movies. He was a fun-loving older cousin. He loved his family and never hesitated to join in on the games and roughhousing.

He found community through his memberships with the Wisconsin Trappers Association and the Harley Owners Group, but his greatest devotion was reserved for his dogs, whom he loved spending time with.

The family would like to thank Rainbow Hospice and Dr Harker Murray and staff at Froedtert for the extraordinary care they gave Zack through his cancer battle.

Zack is survived by his devoted wife, Meghan; parents, Scott and Wendy Umland; brother, Weston Umland; sister, LeeAnn (Devin) Godager; maternal grandmother, Carol Lenius; beloved fur baby, Korbel; mother-in-law, Barbara (Steve) Gregory; brother-in-law, Ryan (Samantha) Mueller; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Zack is preceded in death by his maternal grandpa, LaVern Lenius; paternal grandmother, Sharon English; aunts, Lisa Underwood, Holly Umland, and JoAnn Zubke; uncles, Matthew English, Craig Umland and Terrance Marks; cousin, Noah Guenterberg; and fur babies, Kimber, Hawk, and Niki.

Some people walk through the gates of heaven but Zack rode through on his Harley.
