Dale Lee Meyer was born on April 23, 1948, in Reedsburg to Reuben and Janet (née Huebner) Meyer. The eldest of five, he grew up with his four younger sisters: Sandra, Katy, Renee, and Shelby. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Watertown, where Dale spent his teenage years working on his Uncle Fritz's farm in Waterloo. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1966. On October 11, 1969, he married Gloria Clemmons at St. John's Lutheran Church, and together they built a loving home, raising their two children, Lynn and Jeff. Dale began his career at Lindberg Hevi-Duty, later working at Schweiger Industries before finding his true calling at Gardner Baking. As a dedicated route salesman, he spent 30 years building relationships and serving his customers. In retirement, he remained active, working for Badgerland Roofing, where he enjoyed tending to the property. A devoted Christian, Dale was an active member of his church, serving as an usher and on the counting committee. He took great joy in helping set up the church Christmas trees each year and generously donated packaged pastries for the children’s Christmas bags. Dale’s favorite role in life was being Grandpy! He treasured babysitting, picking up his granddaughters from school, and proudly attending his granddaughters’ choir and band concerts, volleyball games, and dance performances. With a funny joke and a friendly smile, Dale made everyone feel like a friend. Dale had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in camping at Tomorrow Wood Campground in Hancock, appreciating nature’s beauty, and spending time hunting—both bow and gun deer hunting—as well as fishing. Dale enjoyed bowling in different leagues. He was a regular at Firehouse Lanes' Wednesday Night Men’s Bowling League and at the Watertown Bowl on Sunday Evening Couples League, where he shared many fun and memorable moments with friends. A true Wisconsin sports fan, Dale loved rooting for the Badgers, Packers, Brewers, and Bucks, always supporting his home teams. Dale is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria; daughter, Lynn (Troy) Neu; granddaughters, Megan Neu and Lauren Neu; sisters, Sandra (Roger) Herbert, Katy (Chuck) Juderjohn, Renee (Tom) Baehmann, and Shelby (Dan) Fetter; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey, and his parents. The family would like to thank Rainbow Hospice nurse Emmy for her compassionate care, social worker Jessica, and the rest of the staff with Rainbow Hospice. They would also like to thank Rev. Ewings and Rev. Quinnett for their visits with words of encouragement, devotions, and prayers. |
