John was an educator and musician. After teaching in elementary schools for 8-10 years, he earned his doctorate in organ performance and composition from the University of Iowa. He then began a 30+ year career as organ instructor and classroom instructor at Concordia University, St. Paul, MN. He also wrote and published many compositions for organ, organ with other instruments, and choral music.
