Gordon was always the protector of the little guys in need of a big brother.
I remember once in freshman year, when he was challenged to a fight. It seemed like half the school went accross the street to watch Gordon fight and beat this guy. The main thing was that Gordon did so with a broken leg. He was a true Marine in heart even back then.
