About Me | Completed second year at KCKCJC and moved to Detroit Michigan in 1969 for work and Wayne State University. (Parents going crazy by this decision as to 1968 Detroit race riots.) Rushed, pledged, and joined Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, AEPi, oy vey, (don’t ask). US Army still needing troops so I must keep my Selective Service deferment by staying in school. War ends for me as my # at Selective Service is 214 and numbers were frozen at 197. Head out for two motorcycle excursions (1968 Triumph 650 TR6R) throughout USA passing through KC to south Texas and on to California returning to Michigan. Became enraptured of the State of Arizona and moved to complete University studies at Arizona State University graduating in 1974. Married the lovely Leslie Davis of Auburn California, 4 kids and 8 grandkids, 46 years and counting, still lovingly together. Employed by a single company but operated enterprises and lived in Phoenix, Cincinnati, and Houston. After 5 years we moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and started my own business. Owned and operated Rent to Own stores in Nevada, Utah, and Hawaii. Moderate travel for business and pleasure: Japan, Spain, Morocco, Australia, Bermuda, Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong (British), Hong Kong (Chinese), mainland China, Thailand, Korea, Argentina, and USA. Started business enterprises in Guangzhou, China and Chiang Mai, Thailand --- lost my a_ _! Living and family life for 12 years in Maui, Hawaii but relocated to New Harmony, Utah in 1999. I sold all business enterprises in 2007 and quasi-retired. I am currently a ranch hand on Leslie’s 50-acre southern Utah property. Leslie and I enjoy the grandkids (they have-ta-go home) RV’ing, wine tasting (+), snow skiing, and tennis twice a week, she’s pretty good, and Cedar City annual Shakespeare Festival. Christianity is still all important to us, we are not Mormons, but being in Utah we have several LDS (they prefer Latter Day Saints) friends. Expecting a very bright future as Trump is our President! Wish everyone a happy and healthy future! Best Regards, David Manthei, 1967.
