Barry Barnes
Class of 1962
EDUCATION: President of class sophomore year at Wasburn; transferred to Bossier High near Barksdale AFB. Full scholarship to Oklahoma State in physics. Married young and changed major to psychology and graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana.
EARLY CAREER: Therapist with Shreveport Mental Health Center; Director of Research & Evaluation with Bossier Parish Public Schools; Coordinator of Computer Services with Northwest Louisiana Supplementary Educational Services; Director of Data Services with Montgomery County Public Schools.
EARLY ENTREPRENEURIAL CAREER: Launch team member of NCS (became huge NCS Pearson). Co-founded 15 more firms in the fields of information systems assessment, publishing, survey-research, intelligent optical scanning, advertising & promotion, software products, windpower, and steel-framed homes.
LATER CAREER: For 10 years, consulted to CEOs, officers, and senior executives of fast-growth high tech and multi-national firms on growth strategies.
RETIREMENT: Retired at age 47. Have remodeled three homes, built one, landscaped three, restored five Classic Cars (three 50 Fords, 68 Mustang, 70 & 78 MGBs), written several blogs, traveled to 48 states and 18 countries, and pursued many other hobbies.
CURRENT JOYS: I take great pleasure in my wife Liz, my daughters Kelly and Lianne, and my grandchildren. I'm still very active and engaged in life.
