Charles E. Lane

Class of 1974

Associate Senior Vice President, Career and Protective Services University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles.

Charles "Charlie" Lane was named associate senior vice president for career and protective services in January 2005. He is responsible for administering USC's programs related to security, risk management and insurance, workers' compensation, disability, employee recruitment and development, faculty development, emergency planning, and environmental health and safety.

Before joining USC in 1991 as director for environmental health and safety, Lane had extensive experience in administering health and safety programs at the University of Houston, Intermedics, and Texas Instruments. He is a lecturer at the USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development, and a visiting professor at Nanjing University in Nanjing, China.

Lane received his master's in public administration from USC in 1996 and a doctorate in public administration from USC in 1998. Charlie also holds a masters from UCM and the University of Houston. He was President of his Senior Class at Warrensburg and was an outstanding athlete in track, tennis, and basketball while at WHS. He received tennis All-American status in tennis at Southwest Baptist while carrying a triple major in chemistry, biology and math.
