About Me Well, where do I begin? This formerly shy, introverted individual turned all that around. After high school I worked several part-time jobs while attending MCCC. My college draft deferrment magically disappeared when I graduated. Instead of letting selective service decide my fate, I entered the Coast Guard in 1970, staying for seven years... spending a year in avionics training, three years in Hawaii and three years at USCG Air Station Detroit. My work included avionics repair and helicopter air rescue. Upon "graduation" from the Coast Guard, I worked for small automotive electronics testing firms until landing my job at GM in 1983 as a technician. I returned to school and earned my EE, and eventually my MBA, and spent 22 years at GM as an engineer. In 2006, I was part of the infamous GM "Black Tuesday" elimination, forced into retirement. The day it happened, I stopped and talked to reporters outside the gate of the GM Proving Grounds. My picture and story was placed on the front page of the Detroit News, and I was featured on Channel 7 Action News at 6 & 11. Realizing any hope for new employment in Michigan was slight, I returned to aviation, working first in California on the Predator UAV project, then in an avionics and quality systems manager position in Nevada. So much for work life... If you recall, I played guitar in bands during high school. I continued with the instrument, performing in many bars, clubs, etc. while working my "day gig" at GM. I worked solo, as well as in bands and jazz combos, playing country, rock, jazz and classical. Locally I was a mainstay at the Flying Machine in Harper Woods throughout the 80s, performing as a solo singer/guitarist. I also was a member of an Elvis band (one of my more "unusual" gigs), playing lead guitar. I currently own 15 guitars and 3 banjos, and play them all (just not at the same time)! Now for my "radio career"... I was a part-time jock at WSDS AM from 2000 to 2005, spinning classic country and oldies, under the name "Johnny Danger". Additionally I was chief engineer at the little station. Fun stuff!! I also jocked at WPON during the same period playing oldies. While in Reno, I work part-time weekends for 50,000 watt conservative talk station KKOH, doing news, traffic and weather reports on the hour... I have again returned to radio as Chief Engineer at WAAM in Ann Arbor, MI... I also have a Saturday night music show on the same station... just can't keep my hands out of radio!! This is cool!!! I attended Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp three times in Lakeland, FL. I played ball with and met many former Tigers players and coaches, having a blast!! Also, up until 2004, I played in local hardball leagues. I love baseball, and can still hit a curve. My favorite high school secret: I had huge secret crushes for Caroll Dostal and Mary Kay Economou. Caroll sat across from me in the soprano section in Higgenbottom's choir class. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her! And Mary Kay... she sat in my chair one day in class and wouldn't get up... and what was my overtly stupid response??? I dumped her out of the chair!! Lol!...(read more)
