About Richard D. Jenkins, 74, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007, at his residence. Richard was born in Arena April 16, 1933, son of the late LeRoy and Valeria (nee: Slauson) Jenkins. On March 14, 1988, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Voetberg. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army. Richard co-owned and operated Diamond Transportation with his brother, Harvey. During the tenure of his career, he held the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, and General Manager for many years. Buck was actively involved with the Truckload Carrier Association (TCA), where he served in several capacities as Chairman from 1996 until 1997, By-Laws Committee Chairman from 1992 until 1993 and 1997 until 1998, and Treasurer from 2001 until 2005. He was also an active member in the Wisconsin Motor Carrier Association (WMCA) and served as Chairman during his membership in the organization. Buck was given the Frank W. Babbitt Award in 2003. This award is for outstanding service and support of the trucking industry and for his contribution to the Wisconsin Motor Carrier Association. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; his three brothers, Robert (Mieko) Jenkins of Kentucky, Harvey (Martha) Jenkins, Leroy (Suzanne) Jenkins, all of Racine; sister, Nancy (Daniel) Hershberger of Illinois; brother-in-law, Ralph Voetberg of Sayner; sister-in-law, Grace (Richard) Jelinek of Long Lake; special friend, Stretch Green; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Palm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 29, 2007, 11 a.m. with Rev. Brad Van Fossen officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army; or Orphaned Kanines, 1922 Kremer Avenue, Racine, Wis. 53402, have been suggested. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Malik Bandealy and staff at Kenosha Oncology Alliance, Dr. Wong and staff of the Radiation Oncology Department of Kenosha, and to Hospice Alliance for their loving and compassionate care.
