The Year was 1981. It was Monday night and Monday Night Football was about to begin.The date was October 19. It seemed as if it would most likely be a lackluster game due to the fact that The Chicago Bears were playing the Detroit Lions (whose record spoke for itself). As the game started I thought I heard a familiar name and had to take a second look. The unknown QB who was a 4th round draft pick from Utah State and who graduated from WARREN HIGH SCHOOL IN DOWNEY was ERIC HIPPLE. Eric's debut game was UNFORGETTABLE. Eric lead his Lions to a 48-17 victory throwing 6 TD's against the Bears that night and so he began his 9 year career with Detroit. His detbut game was one of the most impressive debut games in the history of Monday Night Football. They even showed Eric's parents who were sitting in the stands. Eric is now heavily involved with suicide and depression as a result of his son, Jeffery's suicide. I was shocked that he was not already on the Wall of Fame for he is an outstanding individual and is deserving of this and many other honors.
