About | Georgene L. Lane 1950-2019 WEST ORANGE, N.J. — Ms. Georgene Lucy Lane, 68, passed Thursday, February 21, 2019. A Celebration of Life Birthday Party will take place Saturday, April 13, 2019, as an open house 6 to 10 p.m. at the Buena Vista Cafe, 1305 Buena Vista Ave. NE, Warren. Guests are encouraged to wear the color red as a symbol of energy, vitality and love in the celebration of Georgene’s life and what would have been her 69th birthday. Born and raised in Warren, she graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and economics and obtained her master’s degree in guidance and counseling at The Ohio State University in Columbus. After her studies, she moved to New York City before making her home in Montclair, New Jersey, for nearly 30 years. Georgene made many lifelong friends wherever she lived. She had a unique ability to make people feel heard and appreciated; she was affectionately known as a “second mother” or “second sister” to so many. Georgene was known to say, “Don’t talk to me unless you want a friend for life” — a sentiment that remained true until the very end. She worked for Sanofi (formerly, in part, Genzyme) in accounts payable and materials management. Georgene was predeceased by her mother, Shirley Ann (nee Whitlock) Lucy. She is survived by her loving father, Charles “Chuck” Richard Lucy (partner, Dorothy Lazar); cherished daughter, Kaylin, and her son-in-law, Adam Tomlin. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pancreatic Cancer Research would be greatly appreciated. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Georgene Lane to the Johns Hopkins Department of Surgery in support of Pancreatic Cancer Research.
