About	Eugene J. Stassi , age 79 died Thursday, March 20, 2014. He was originally from New Orleans and spent the last 6 years in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from attended Warren Easton High School in 1954 and the University of Southern Mississippi. He had a PhD in Psychology and worked for the Louisiana State Department of Health and Hospitals for 32 years as the Director of Speech and Hearing. He was responsible for getting newborn infant hearing testing legislation Passed which can help to identify potential hearing loss in infants as a means of early intervention. He also established a hearing aid donor program for elderly citizens who could not afford hearing aids. Gene devoted his life helping other people. He was a member of Our Savior Catholic Church, Mobile, Alabama and served in the Knights of Columbus, there. He is survived by his brother Dr. Warren Stassi of Monroe, Louisiana, and his step children, Mark and Sarah Kelso, Patricia and David Gerard and three grandchildren, Kayla, Kaitlyn and Zoe. He was laid to rest in a private ceremony at Garden of Memories, April 14, 2014.
