About | Roger Clay “Cotton” Cox, 68, of Bowling Green, who was born March 25, 1948, to the late James and Violet Cox, passed away on August 30, 2016, in the Greenview Regional Hospital, Bowling Green. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Martin and brother, James Norman Cox. Roger graduated from Warren County High in 1966 and earned a degree in accounting from WKU in 1970. He was a longtime member of Richpond Baptist Church where he served as an usher and their treasurer for 25 years. He was a partner at Duff, Wells & Cox Accounting for 45 years. You would often see him behind the register at Richpond Market as well, where he has been co-owner since 2005. Roger was a member of Bowling Green-Warren County Jaycees and Kentucky JCI Senator #36206. He was also a long time member and backstage director for the Warren County Junior Miss/Distinguished Young Woman program. He was an avid UK basketball fan. He enjoyed spending weekends camping out and on the boat at Barren River Lake. Roger is survived by his wife, Deborah K. Cox of Bowling Green; sister, Barbara Cox Higgs (Floyd) of Bowling Green; sons, Matthew Cox (Katherine), Bryan Cox, Ryan Cox all of Bowling Green; step-daughters, Tara Griffith (Jeff) of Glasgow, Kelli Gillispie (Dale) of Lexington; step-grandchildren, Owen Griffith, Katelyn Gillispie, and Gage Gillispie; brothers-in-law Bill Martin of Bowling Green and John C. Howser (Blayne) of Nashville; nieces, Teresa Cox (Danny), Sheila Jones (James), Bonita Spurlock, Becky Money (Jim); nephew, Allen Martin (Treva); and his rescue companion, a beagle named Lady. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm Friday and 9 to 11 am Saturday at JC Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. The funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday in the Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in the Bowling Green Gardens.
