Graduation Year Class of 1990
Date of Passing Feb 22, 2015
About After a valiant battle with cystic fibrosis, Dana Carol Johnson Tallman, of White House, Tenn., died at 8:15 a.m. Feb. 22, 2015, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Dana was born on Sept. 1, 1972, in Bowling Green to Layne and Judy Johnson. Dana was a 1990 graduate of Warren Central High School. She earned a degree in photojournalism from Western Kentucky University in 1994. Her brilliant photography career included extensive free-lance assignments, as well as positions at various newspaper organizations in Lexington; Kalamazoo, Mich.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Jackson, Tenn.; and Norman, Okla. Her most recent position was with Vanderbilt University.

Dana married Ken Tallman on June 7, 2008, in a beautiful beachside ceremony in Navarre Beach, Fla. God could not have chosen a better husband for Dana or a better wife for Ken. They shared a genuine, selfless love that was evident in the dedication they gave to one another. They loved and cared for their two dogs, “Teddy” and “Macie” unconditionally. Dana lived her life as a devoted Christian. Faith, love and hope accompanied her as she bravely lived every day of her life to the fullest. She was an active member of Cross Point Community Church in Nashville. Dana never let cystic fibrosis define her remarkable life. Her desire to live was ever present in her loving and playful spirit, her generous giving and her empathetic and compassionate nature. Dana’s relentless desire to fight and win her bouts of illness with cystic fibrosis strengthened her trust in the Lord. During those struggles, her love for God was never abandoned. Her convictions became stronger, fueling her fight and her will to live.

Dana adored her four nieces, her nephew and three godchildren. She loved them all as if they were her own. The impact she had on their young lives is apparent and will forever live in them, no matter the season.

Dana is survived by her husband, Ken Tallman, of White House, Tenn.; parents Layne and Judy Johnson of Bowling Green; brothers Nathan Johnson (wife, Sarah Neal Johnson), Bowling Green, and Ryan Johnson (wife Sarah Ashley Johnson), Alvaton; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jerry and Vickie Tallman, Joelton, Tenn.; sister-in-law Kim Batey (husband Chris Batey), White House, Tenn.; nieces Lauren Batey, Mattie Johnson, Caroline Johnson, Reese Johnson and nephew Corbin Johnson. Also surviving are three godchildren, Maddie Sowards, Joe Sowards and Cooper Sowards; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends; and her special dogs, “Teddy” and “Rubie Mae.”
