About Me | The Montgomery Clan, was one of the oldest, and most heroic names in history. Recorded back to the 9th century. Whom migrated from Scotland, and Ireland, but who's origin actually began in Normandy France, living on Mount Gomerie, and was next to the King as being the most powerful in Normandy, and it is said by D.B. Montgomery that all Montgomery's through out the earth are descended from this source. The first recorded Montgomery was Yves de Bellesme, count of Alencon in Normandy, who died in 944. Joseph Montgomery, graduate of Princeton, and delegate to the Continental Congress, who also married Rachel Rush the sister of Dr. Benjamin Rush, great physician, and signer of The Declaration of Independence. My 3rd great grand father was Rev.James Jotham Montgomery, Baptist minister, and well esteemed citizen of North Georgia. The Montgomery family ancestry also include; Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens), Gen. Richard Montgomery, Davy Crockett, Jesse James, Gen. Ben Logan, and Samuel Finley (president of Princeton) There were so many great men of the Montgomery Ancestry, that we wonder when it dwindles down to so little.
