| About | Sylvia Yvonne (Dudash) Brouse, 79, of Frederick, MD passed from this life on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Frederick Health and Rehab. Barry Keith Brouse, 76, of Frederick, MD, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Village Crossing. The Brouses were married for 37 years. Sylvia was known to her friends as "SYD" and "Bonnie" to her family. She was born on June 20,1944, in Frederick, MD. Sylvia was the eldest child of the late John and Hilda (Goodman) Dudash. Sylvia was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Frederick, MD. She was a 1962 graduate of Frederick High School and a 1966 graduate of Hood College, earning a BA degree in Secondary Education with emphasis on French language. Her career spanned many years as a French and Spanish teacher in Frederick County High Schools (Thomas Johnson and Walkersville). She earned several honors during that period. Barry was born December 31, 1948, in Shamokin, PA to the late Keith and Thelma (Kerstetter) Brouse. He graduated from Penn State University, earning a BA degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Frederick, MD, a member of the Bacchus Club, a member of the American Wine Society, and a member of the American Legion. He served in the Army from 1968- 1970. Barry and Sylvia loved planning and cooking especially holiday meals. They enjoyed traveling especially touring England. They enjoyed the beach in the summer spending time with family and friends. They loved their dogs, Bijou and Winston. They are survived by Sylvia's brother Dale Dudash (Nancy) of Eldersburg, MD; Barry's sister Ruth Brown of Frederick, MD; five nieces (Stephanie (Dudash) Renner, Heather (Brown) Lindsay, Dawn (Oakes) Ciesielko, Holly (Oakes) Bostick, Lindsay (Dudash) Palmer); three nephews (Michael Brown, Jason Dudash, Andrew Dudash) and many great nieces and nephews. Sylvia was preceded in death by her sister Joan Duffy in 2022, brother-in-law Forrest "Richard" Oakes, and brother-in-law James Brown. A memorial service will take place on Monday, February 17 at 2:00 pm for both Barry and Sylvia Brouse at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Frederick Health Hospice, 1 Frederick Health Way, Frederick, MD 21701.
