About | Elizabeth Fowble Albaugh, age 98, of Walkersville, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born May 14, 1926 in Frederick, she was the only child of the late Gilmore and Eva Reddick Fowble and lived her entire life in her childhood home. She was the wife of 51 years to John W. Albaugh, Jr. He predeceased her in 1998. Affectionately known as "Lizzie", she was a 1943 graduate of Walkersville High School and was the next to the last surviving member of her school class. She was formerly employed at Nicodemus Sewing Factory in Walkersville, until her first son was born. In the late 1970s she cleaned homes in Walkersville until she started working at T.R. Saylor Hardware Store in Walkersville, where she worked for more than 25 years until they closed in 2015. She was one of the oldest members of Chapel Lutheran Church where at one time she was the pianist. She thoroughly enjoyed sewing and quilting and continued to sew up until 2 weeks ago. This holiday season she sewed and gave away more than 60 Christmas stockings. She also loved collecting angels. Surviving are her children, Laura A. Ramsburg and husband Dennis, Ted W. Albaugh and wife Kathy and Ervin Albaugh and wife Mary, all of Walkersville; grandchildren and families Stacey and Rob Chronister (Gage and Gavin), Sherry Albaugh, Katie and Michael Stevens (Bailee, Hadlee and Aubree), Brittany and Ralph Sanders (Lane and Colt) and Mandi and Nicholas Kipp (Kasi, Isaiah, Ryan, RaeAnna, Kaiden and McKenna). She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her twin great-grandsons, Steven and John Sanders, to be born in 2 weeks. She was predeceased by her family friends, Sonny Zimmerman and his niece, Debbie Yarnall. Her family would like to give a special thanks to Lauren, Holly, Aria and Erika from Frederick Hospice, as well as her caregivers, Paige, Chris and Becky for their exceptional care. A visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 3 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at Chapel Lutheran Church, 11109 Daysville Rd., Frederick. Pastor Ron Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in Chapel Cemetery.
