About	Mr. Richard "Rick" Wayne Plunkard, 64, of Funkstown, died Sunday, April 7, 2024. Born December 1, 1959 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Cannon) Plunkard Sr. Rick grew up on his family’s dairy farm in Woodsboro, Maryland. He graduated from Walkersville High School in 1977, where he was a member of the FFA. He was employed as an RV Service Technician for over 30 years, and in recent years worked as the Service Manager at Grimm’s Automovation with his life-long friend, Dale Grimm. Rick was an avid collector of classic cars and antique farm equipment, with a particular fondness for Corvettes. He shot pool competitively for many years, earning many accolades and trophies. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, and attending car shows. He loved planting his vegetable garden every year, patiently awaiting fresh tomatoes, and steaming blue crabs to enjoy with friends and family. Rick never met a stranger. Every person, to him, was just a friend he hadn’t met yet. He was always ready to lend a hand, and coax a smile or a laugh from everyone he knew. He will be missed by many close friends, whom he considered family. He is survived by his daughters; Janel Plunkard (Andrew Oelrich) and Casey Plunkard, grandsons; Jude Stephey, Rogen Stephey, Ledger Oelrich and Ryder Oelrich, brother; Harry “Tommy” Plunkard Jr. (Jimma Plunkard), nephew; Lonny Plunkard (Kim Plunkard), and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends from 1pm to 4pm, on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be at 2:00PM, on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Casual attire is welcome. Online condolences may be shared at www.keeneybasford.com.
