About	Today my best friend, my lifelong companion, my wife preceded me to our heavenly home. Following a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s, Marcia Baldwin Shimer passed away on August 21, 2025. Marcia loved her family to the end – her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren - but above all, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Marcia sought to use her time and talents to count for heaven. In her music and songs, by teaching young children and later adult women in Bible studies, she enjoyed sharing her love for Jesus with those around her. She sang in a lady’s trio for over 40 years. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, E. Vance and Rhea Baldwin; her siblings: Homer, Tom and Joanne. Marcia is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Richard; her sisters-in-law: Marion Baldwin and Susan Alvarez; and her children: Jennifer (Jack), Robert (Sheila), Brenna (Tom) and James. She has 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Marcia will be missed by all who knew her and by three special friends: Janis Walton, Marilyn Meadows and Mary Lou Powell. Funeral services will be held at her church home, Ambassador Baptist Church, 620 Trease Road in Wadsworth, Ohio, led by Pastor Gary Pratt and Rita Newton providing music. Viewing hours are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2025, and the service will be at 12:00 p.m. Interment is at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Society in Marcia’s name.
