Morgan passed away on April 4, 1984. He was a very special friend of mine whos sense of humor brought so much joy into my life. We met at a Friday night football game. I introduced myself and sat next to him with the intentions of trying to set him up with my best friends. Morgan was dipping snuff and was spitting it out in a cup next to his soft drink. Not paying attention, Morgan grabbed a cup to take a drink, but picked up the one with his spit! He began gagging and spitting it out. We couldn't control our laughter! It was an ice-breaking moment and the begining of a dear friendship. Our last time together was when we went to the Monday night drive-in theater where all the area high schools gathered during the summer. I have no idea what show was playing, but we enjoyed visiting with our friends. Afterwards, he brought me home and left. I moved to Denver and Morgan went off to attend The University of Texas to pursue an engineering degree. Morgan passed away in a car accident a month shy of graduation. His brother, Clay, attended the ceremony to accept his diploma. I want Morgan to be remembered for his compassion, loyalty, intelligence, and his contagious sense of humor. Morgan had a special nickname for me that I will share, but not what it stood for. ROOB. I will forever miss my buddy, but I realize what a blessing and an impact he had in my life. R.I.P.
