Bob was part of my life in a rather offbeat way. We were neither neighborhood nor school friends but, somehow, I found myself paired with Bob and our two dates heading for the senior prom together in the Spring of 1951. My boss, George "Bebsy" Pepelnjak, proprietor of a grocery store on Chestnut St., where I worked part time, graciously let me borrow his almost new 1951 Kaiser automobile for the night. Can you imagine? His generosity left a permanent mark on me. I kept in contact with Bob in later years (1989 and later) through visits at his home in Big Bear, CA but, mostly by frequent telephone contact since then, until his passing. I still have a small oil painting of his on my wall, which will always be a reminder of "those days". RIP
